He was born on July 9, 1925 in Biha , today the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Great part of his childhood and schooling period he spent as a refugee (Novi Sad). He graduated with an excellent average and he wanted to study medicine and graduated from the Veterinary Medicine in 1945 at the Faculty of Belgrade. As a player of Red Star(Crvena Zvezda) he won three state championships (1946, 47, 48) and while player acquired the diploma of the basketball coach. He continued his career as a player in Železni ar, then in OKK Belgrade and ended it in Partizan in 1953. He played 36 matches for the national team of Yugoslavia and he took part in the First World Championship (1950) and European Championship (1953).
He was the coach of OKK Belgrade with certain breaks from 1953 till 1965, winning three state championships (1958, 60 and 64). He continued his coaching career in 1966 in Italy, in the team of Oransoda, Kantu with which he won the Italian Championship in 1968.
As a sports official he started his work in the Competition Commission with Radomir Šaper, and later continued as a Vice Secretary General of the Basketball Union of Yugoslavia and was elected the Secretary General in 1956 and remained at this function during the following ten years. While in Basketball Union of Yugoslavia he became an official of FIBA, first as a member of the Commission for European club competitions, then appointed the Deputy Secretary General, and in 1976 he was elected the Secretary General. He stayed at this function until 2002. At the suggestion of J.A. Samaran in 1988 he was elected to be the member of the International Olympic Committee.

Recognitions:

He is the winner of the October Award of Belgrade for invaluable contribution to the sports (1974).

TWorld Sports Leadert Award by American Sports Academy (1983).

German Cross with a strip for highest merits (1987).

On the 100th anniversary of basketball he was enshined into the THome of Famerst in Springfield (1991).

Decoration of lion of Republic Senegal (1999).

He was decorated with the Legion of honour of the French government for years' lasting and very successful engagement in the international basketball (2001).

Trophy TJames Naismitht of the international foundation that preserves the memory of the basketball creator (2002)

  I GENERAL REGULATIONS  
     
  Article 1  
  The Serbia and Montenegro Association of Basketball Coaches (hereinafter reffered to ast: SMABC) is a voluntary, interest and professional association established by merging of the Association of basketball coaches of Serbia and Association of basketball coaches of Montenegro.  
     
  Article 2  
  Full name of the Association is:

Of the Serbia and Montenegro association of basketball coaches

Article 1
Codex of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia determines basic rules of behavior of its members at work and in life circumstances.
Article 2
A basketball coach, member of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia, performs all his duties in accordance with the statute of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia and with obeying the codex and his behavior and actions he takes care of the status and reputation of his profession.
Article 3
Basketball coach in order to perform his job:
1. Tries to build reputation among his players, their parents, means of public information with his knowledge, efforts and behavior.
2. Takes over all the duties and tasks related to the further training that are under the jurisdiction of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia.
3. Cooperates with the magazine ?trener? and media.
4. Takes care of his improvement and applies the methods present in contemporary training.
5. In private and official contacts he does not mention false data on his education, qualifications and working experience.
6. He does not announce the false or compromising attitude on the work of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia, basketball club, union or company he works for.
7. He corrects, reveals certain false quotes that appeared related to him, to the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia, his club, union or company.
8. He does not morally or materially abuse basketball players, their parents or tutors.
9. He keeps official secrets.
10. He does not make experiments that may make damage to the player and for each and the minimum risk in that aspect he is obliged to ask for agreement of the player or of the player?s parents.
11. He cooperates and offers help to the members of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia.
12. He takes care of his aspect and outfit.
13. He has to stick to the competition rules and normative acts of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia.
Article 4
For violating the rules of behavior of the codex the steering committee of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia may establish a discipline commission of the association in order to determine the facts and to take a standpoint.
Composition, incidence and manner the discipline commission of the association works is explained in the additional decision of the steering committee of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia.
Article 5
This codex is distributed to all the basketball clubs, to the basketball coaches that are members of the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia, of the association of basketball coaches of serbia and the association of the basketball coaches of montenegro and to the association of basketball coaches of yugoslavia.

According to the Statute of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia, the Convocation of the Association at the session of September 9, 2002 decided upon

Book of Regulations on membership fee

GENERAL REGULATIONS

Article 1
A member of the Association is obliged to pay an annual membership fee in the given term.
Article 2
A member will be excluded from the Association, if he does not pays the membership fee for more than one year.
Article 3
Membership fee has to be paid in the given term until January 31 of each year.
Membership fee is paid in full amount each year.
Article 4
Association will not verify the licenses for team managing in the case that membership fee is not paid in the determined term.

MEMBERSHIP CARD

Article 5
Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia issues a membership card and verifies it after the membership fee has been paid. The amount of the fee for the membership card is determined by the Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia.
Article 6
Membership card is blue in color and there are a sign of Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia and the photo of the coach and data in it.

AMOUNT OF MEMBERSHIP FEE

Article 7
According to the Statute of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia, the amount of the membership fee is determined by the Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia for each year separately.
Article 8
Membership fee may be paid directily in the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia or at the drawing account of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia, with the indication for which year is the membership fee paid.
Article 9
Secretary of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia keeps record of the membership fee in the coach file of each member of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia.
Article 10
Every member of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia gets magazine ?Trener? (?Coach?) for free and videocassettes and branch literature with discount.
Article 11
For all issues not included in the Book of Regulations the Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia will be in charge.
Article 12
The Book of Regulations enters into force on the day of its adoption and becomes valid since September 13, 2002.

Book on Regulations on Schoolinh and Further Training

GENERAL REGULATIONS

Article 1
The Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia determines as its basic objectives and tasks of schooling and further training of the specialists in accordance with the interests of improvement of basketball sport, the study of basketball game and training, and study of all other branches of science related to the basketball sport.
Article 2
Basic aspects of schooling and further training are:
Schooling
Further training in the country
Further training abroad
Seminars.
Article 3
Schooling and further training are permanent duty of all the members of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia.
Article 4
For every aspect of schooling and further training a contest is announced for the current year.
The Steering Committee of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia announces the contest and it also appoints the Commission consisting of president and four members of the commission.
Commission analyses the applications, composes the point list according to this Book of Regulations and gives suggestions to the Steering Committee of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia regarding the choice of candidates for schooling and further training.

CONDITIONS AND CONTEST CRITERIA

Article 5
Contest criteria refer to the further training abroad which is point scored.
Determining priorities for sending experts is done on the basis of points, gained according to the criteria and on the basis of the Book of Regulations.
Article 6
Points are determined according to the following criteria:
Professional qualification of the coach-candidate.
Rank of competition he works at.
Success at work.
Knowledge of foreign languages.
Coaching experience.
Special conditions.
Article 7
Points according to the professional qualification:
1. Coach title_____________________5 points.
2. Coach title of the 1st grade________10 points.
3. Senior sports coach title _________15 points.
4. Graduate coach, specialist or basketball PhD ______20 points.
Article 8
Points according to the competition rank:
1. Federal competition rank____________ 15 points.
2. Coaches of national team selections___ 20 points.
Article 9
Points according to the success in the work:
1. Remarkable results in the work with younger selections ________ 5 points.
2. Remarkable results in the republic rank __10 points.
3. Remarkable results in the federal competition rank and Cup competitions _______________ 15 points.
4. Coaches with medals won at national team and club competitions.
Article 10
Points according to the foreign languages knowledge:
1. Knowledge of one of the world languages and knowledge of the basketball terminology___5 points
2. Knowledge of English language and knowledge of basketball terminology_____________  10 points.
Article 11
Points according to the length of the coach internship:
1. Coach up to 5 years _______________ 5 points.
2. Coach up to 10 years ______________ 10 points.
3. Coach over 10 years _______________ 15 points.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Article 12

There is a possibility of paying participation for taking part in schooling and further training.
Article 13
No matter what the determined rules prescribed in the Book of Regulations are, Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia may decide to send to the further training the person that does not fulfill prescribed conditions and under condition that this person is a perspective expert of whom everybody expects great output in the work in the organization.
Article 14
In the case that certain candidates have the same number of points, the priority for the further training is determined by the Steering Committee of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia taking into account which candidate has more favorable conditions that are not prescribed.
Article 15
Term for applying after the annunciation of the contest is 15 days.
Article 16
Application has to be explained and documented with the data that the candidate gives.
For the accuracy of the mentioned data in the application the candidate is responsible. If the candidate has written in the application false data with the intention to provide him more favorable position while ranking, he will lose the right to take part in the contest.
Article 17
Application for further training is submitted to the Commission for schooling and further training.

COSTS OF SCHOOLING AND FURTHER TRAINING

Article 18

Costs of schooling and further training in the country and abroad and the costs of the seminars will be paid by:
The Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia
Basketball union of Yugoslavia
Sports union
Clubs
Coaches.

COACH SCHOOLING

Article 19

Obligation of the members of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia is to educate themselves in order to obtain the titles prescribed in the rules on schooling of professional personnel and the following are:
Coach
Coach of the first grade
Higher sports coach
Graduate coach
Specialist coach
PhD, Master of the basketball-coach
in order to, besides other conditions, obtain the licenses for team managing as mentioned in the Book on the Regulations on license issuing.

FURTHER TRAINING IN THE COUNTRY

Article 20

The members of the Association and license holders are entitled to have further training in the country.
Article 21
Further training is obligatory for all the members and license holders according to the Book on the Regulations on license issuing.

FURTHER TRAINING ABROAD

Article 23
Basic aspects of further training abroad are:
Monitoring of official basketball matches
Monitoring of the work of certain teams, camps and similar
Taking part in seminars abroad.
Article 24
The members of the Association and license bearers are entitled to have further training under the condition that they apply for the contest according to the Article 3 of the Book on Regulations and meet the criteria of the Book on Regulations.

SEMINAR

Article 25
At seminars as a type of training and according to the Book on Regulations on license issuing the members of the Association are obliged to take part in:
Coach clinic- senior coaches
Coach days- all members of the Association.
Article 26
Interpretation of the regulations of the Book on Regulations is given by the Steering Committee of the Association of basketball coaches of
Yugoslavia.
Article 27
This Book on Regulations enters into force from the day of its adoption.

According to the Articles 4 and 10 of the Statute of the basketball coaches of Yugoslavia, the Convocation of the Association decides upon the

Book of regulations on issuing the licenses to the coaches of the federal leagues for team managing

Article 1
Association of the basketball coaches of Yugoslavia issues the licenses to the coaches for their work and for team managing at all federal competitions in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
Article 2
License for team managing is issued only to the members of the Association of the basketball coaches of Yugoslavia who possess the title- basketball coach.
Article 3
Licenses are issued by the Steering Committee of the Association of the basketball coaches of Yugoslavia.
Article 4
License provides right to work and team managing in the federal rank.
Article 5
License is issued at the personal request of the coach.
Article 6
License will be withdrawn in the case that the coach violates the codex of the Association of the basketball coaches of Yugoslavia or if he presents false documentation in order to obtain the license.
Article 7
A foreigner may also obtain the license, under the condition that he has won European and World titles in senior competition- club and representational rank.
For the US coaches the condition is training the team of the first college league and at least one title won within the conference.
Article 8
License is valid only for one competition season.
Article 9
License may be temporary.
Temporary license is issued to the students of the Basketball Academy (Visa košarkaška š Temporary license is issued to the students of the Basketball Academy
Article 10
License holders are the head and assistant coaches of the federal league teams.
Article 11
What is necessary for getting the license:
Title- senior basketball coach
Basketball academy enrolled
At least 4 (four) year of working experience as a coach
Taking part in seminars and Coach days of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia
Teaching at the seminars organized by the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia at their request and providing written material for the magazine ?Trener? (?Coach?).
Receiving coaches willing to have an internship according to the programs of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia.
Article 12
Book of regulations on issuing the licenses at the republic level is made by the republic Associations of the basketball coaches according to the present Book of regulations.
Transitional and ending provisions:
Article 13
Steering committee of the Association of basketball coaches of Yugoslavia will be in charge of all the issues not mentioned in this book of regulations.
The book of regulations enters into force on the day of its adoption.

Udruženje košarkaških trenera Jugoslavije planira da na redovnoj Skupštini UKTJ osnuje u saradnji sa ostalim košarkaškim organizacijama Fond za pomoć trenerima. Udruženje trenera u toku svog postojanja je već pomagalo trenere koji su se nalazili u teškim situacijama.
Molimo sve ljude dobre volje koji su zainteresovani u želji da pomognu u ovoj akciji da se jave kancelariji Udruženja košarkaških trenera Jugoslavije.
 
   
 
 
Član 1.
Predmet ovog Ugovora predstavlja angažovanje košarkaškog trenera Trenera od strane Kluba i regulisanje međusobnih prava i obaveza za vremenski period od _________ do __________ god., u kom periodu će i važiti odredbe ovog Ugovora. Nakon proteka ovog Ugovora, Klub i Trener se mogu dogovoriti o daljoj saradnji ili Trener ima pravo promene kluba u zemlji ili u inostranstvu, bez materijalnog i drugog obeštećenja prema Klubu, a Klub stiče pravo angažovanja novog trenera.
Član 2. Obaveze Kluba su da Treneru omogući sve uslove za stručan rad sa određenom selekcijom i vođenje tima na treninzima, prijateljskim utakmicama, kao i da obezbedi adekvatan prostor za treniranje i druge organizaciono-tehničke uslove.
Član 3. Klub se obavezuje da će na ime ukupne naknade
Treneru isplatiti iznos ______ €, u dinarskoj protivvrednosti,
i to za:
- sezonu ______ iznos od ______ € u din. protivvrednosti
- sezonu ______ iznos od ______ € u din. protivvrednosti
- sezonu ______ iznos od ______ € u din. protivvrednosti
- sezonu ______ iznos od ______ € u din. protivvrednosti
Ukupna naknada obuhvata sva plaćanja vezana za zaradu i druga primanja iz radnog odnosa i nadoknadu za zaključenje Ugovora.
Detaljnija dinamika i modaliteti izvršenja obaveza iz ovog člana biće regulisani Aneksom koji je sastavni deo ovog Ugovora.
Premije i nagrade za postignute rezultate nisu uračunati u gore navedene iznose.
Član 4. Klub se obavezuje da će Treneru isplaćivati premije i nagrade za postignute rezultate u skladu sa klupskim pravilnikom, koji čini sastavni deo ovog Ugovora.
Član 5. Klub se takođe obavezuje da će omogućiti Treneru, kad god se ukaže potreba za tim, vođenje reprezentativnih selekcija na poziv Košarkaškog saveza.
Član 6. Klub se obavezuje da istovremeno sa zaključenjem ovog Ugovora zaključi sa Trenerom i ugovorom o radu, u skladu sa zakonom, kojim će Trener zasnovati radni odnos na određeno vreme, u periodu određenom u članu 1. ovog Ugovora, i u koji će, u okviru posebnih prava i obaveza, biti uneta odredba da su prava i obaveze iz ovog ugovora sastavni deo ugovora o radu.
Član 7. Obaveze trenera su da planira, obavlja i realizuje sve poslove i zadatke na osnovu plana i programa, usvojenog od strane rukovodstva kluba, na treninzima i utakmicama, stručno i odgovorno u skladu sa svojim dosadašnjim iskustvom u tom poslu i u skladu sa odlukama Kluba, Statutom i pravilnicima Udruženja košarkaških trenera Jugoslavije, aktima KSJ, KSS i KSCG. Da će poštovati sve marketinške obaveze Kluba i da neće davati izjave u sredstvima javnog informisanja protiv kluba, UKTJ, KSS, KSCG i KSJ, i sudijske organizacije. Da će po završetku sezone dostaviti pismeni izveštaj nadležnim organima Kluba. Da
će poštovati sve odluke organa Kluba /Upravnog odbora, Disciplinske komisije i sl./
Član 8. Trener se obavezuje da po isteku Ugovora vrati Klubu poverene mu rekvizite koje je dobio na korišcenje i upotrebu.
Član 9. Neispunjenje odredaba predviđenih članovima 2., 3. i 5. ovog Ugovora, predstavlja bitnu povredu Ugovora. Ukoliko Klub ne ispuni obaveze predviđene gore navedenim članovima ovog Ugovora duže od 30 dana, Trener ima pravo da raskine Ugovor ukoliko želi, isključivo u pismenoj formi uz obavezu Kluba da izvrši sve dospele obaveze koje su predvidene ovim Ugovorom.
Član 10. Ugovorne strane su saglasne da ukoliko Trener izvrši povredu ugovornih ili radnih obaveza koje su predviđene ovim Ugovorom, disciplinskim pravilnikom Kluba, Kodeksom ponašanja UKTJ ili disciplinskim pravilnikom KSS, KSCG i KSJ, Ugovor se može raskinuti na štetu Trenera uz izmirenje dospelih obaveza do trenutka kada je prekršaj učinjen.
Član 11. Ugovorne strane su saglasne da će nakon potpisivanja ovaj Ugovor deponovati u Udruženje košarkaških trenera Jugoslavije i da će poštovati sve odredbe ovog Ugovora.
Član 12. U slučaju da nastupe okolnosti koje nisu predviđene ovim Ugovorom, primenjivaće se akti UKTJ, KSS, KSCG i KSJ.
Član 13. Odredbe ovog Ugovora imaju se smatrati poslovnom tajnom, te iznošenje podataka iz ovog Ugovora predstavlja bitnu povredu Ugovora
Član 14. U slučaju spora strane će pokušati da spor reše sporazumno u duhu sportskih i prijateljskih odnosa, u protivnom ugovara se nadležnost arbitraže predviđene Pravilnikom o izdavanju licenci.
Član 15. Ovaj Ugovor sačinjen je u 4 ravnoglasna primerka, od kojih svaka ugovorna strana zadržava po 2.
